Who we are
We're a publisher of LGBTQ+ books - primarily gay, and primarily romance and erotica. Our books range from wholesome-but-sexy romance through to hardcore, kinky erotica. Our books focus on gay men (or at least men who are attracted to men, no matter how they identify).
Bunkmate Books was established in 2022 and is based in Aotearoa (that's the indigenous name for New Zealand).
We don't take submissions
Bunkmate Books is what's known as an 'imprint' or trade name. We're not a traditional press, and we're not what's sometimes referred to as a 'vanity press' that will publish your book for a fee. We're just a brand to publish the work of a small group of authors.
That means we don't accept queries from authors looking for a publisher.
What we stand for
We're sex positive, kink positive, and happy to challenge traditional heteronormative morality when it comes to sex and relationships. We care about the environment, and we try to ensure the climate impact of our production is fully offset and carbon neutral (this is a work in progress). We care about the rights of workers in the publishing industry, including supporting union organising in companies like Amazon and Google that distribute our books.
We don't use generative AI to create our content (like stories or cover art). We may use AI for some purposes (for example, we use Podcastle's AI features to remove background noise as part of our audiobook production process).

Adult content policy
Out books may contain adult themes and/or sexually explicit material. Not every book necessarily will, but most do, so you should assume that any of our books you choose to read will. Because of this our website is for people aged 18+ and you will be asked both when you entire the site and at the checkout to confirm that you are 18 or over and consent to viewing sexually explicit and/or adult content.
Wholesale
